There are some things required of us in fulfilling the call. One of those things is FAITH. A lot of people have failed so much in life that they have little or no faith in God and in themselves. All they want to do is just get by, to survive, though there is still that tiny flicker of light in their hearts and there is still that niggling voice saying you are meant for more than this.
Still looking at Moses as a case study.
I am sure he was just getting by, not particularly being fulfilled in life, though he had a family and a job. When the Lord eventually appeared to him and told him to go and bring his people Israel out of the land of Egypt, one would think that he would grab at the opportunity with joy and excitement. But he gave every excuse possible under the surface of this earth because he was too full of fear, insecurity and doubt.
Exodus 3: 10-11
3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
Exodus 4: 9-10
4:9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue……
Now the question is, did the Lord not see all of these fault, inadequacies and failures before giving him this assignment? Of course he did! But the difference is that the Lord already knew what he was capable of even though Moses could not see it at that moment.
Thus, the truth is that a lot of the time we are so overwhelmed with our failures that we do not see what the Lord is seeing. We must realize that the Lord will not give us a project or assignment that is within our capability. The call will definitely have impossible written all over it. If he has chosen you to take up a great cause no matter how impossible it is. He knows we can do it, but only by his help. The Lord himself said it in
Zechariah 4 :6 Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts…….
This is where absolute and complete faith in God is required. The Lord was so angry with Moses for not having faith after he has been given so many signs. Exodus 4: 13-14.
Imagine how frustrated and angry you will be, if you were to tell your little boy to jump into your arms knowing that he can not fall, but he refuses to jump, because he does not believe that you will catch him. That is how angry God gets when we refuse to believe him.
Hebrew 11:6 clearly states that:
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. KJV.
The Big God in Me album project had impossible written all over it. I was living in constant fear of everything falling apart. One day the Lord showed himself to me in such a way that I had to just let go of the several layers of fear that I had and hold firmly to my faith in Christ.
The Lord just wants us to believe in him totally and completely. No matter what the situation or circumstance is just believe.
Why?? Because he has it all in control.
